Refuse to Enroll?

No private insurance – Obamacare is "Medicaid for the middle class" – or as CBO director Douglas Holtz-Eakin calls exchange coverage: "a second Medicaid program."
No privacy – Data enters federal database accessible by IRS.
Limited choice – Coverage is "narrow network" policies.
High-cost premiums – Income redistribution to pay for exchange operations and subsidizing high-cost individuals.

I agree, it's a losing battle and just a little misleading. The IRS already has your personal data. Can't speak for other companies or states but networks for a plan sold on the exchange or off the exchange will be the same.

Shaky claims (like bluediamond said, they already have the info, and have for years. They're asking you for fun, or just in case something changed they don't know about yet).

Plus, when it comes to things like this, unless they start an "Occupy Everything" size protest, they'll never have the exposure to make a dent in government mandated enrollment funded with millions of dollars for advertising.

Reminds me of those "don't buy gas on Wednesday so the prices go down" things you see on Facebook every time gas passes $5.

The $700,000,000 in advertising is being spent all in the political swing states. Think they are trying to save senatorial seats in midterm elections?

Must be state specific.

One of the challenges facing carriers in GA was cobbling a network small enough to use on the exchange. Just one of the reasons why Cigna said no to the exchange in Georgia.

We were discussing at the office today, which by the way all of us are very conservative and against this from the start that at this point (and lack of biz) for the past year that a delay would probably put us right out of business. We all saw the congressman from UT not funding by shutting the govt down in Oct and seem to thing this is just a pony show. They have had, since Supreme court ruling to do something and have not. I imagined all the insurance company lobbyist were busy today telling these clowns, look we've spent millions putting this together and if you shut the govt down just to defund this then you will never get re-elected. All our advertising is ordered and we've spent many man hours not to mention thousands. Even though we all despise obama it better go off.

I'm sure many of you MGA's as well as independents that have studied for hours feel the same way at this point.

Well said Blue Diamond! A delay of the Exchanges and of course, the Individual Mandate, would be disastrous for those of us who primarily market health insurance.

My personal sales are beginning to pick up now after being way down for the first half of the year. The reason is because people are beginning to sense that premiums are going to skyrocket in 2014, which makes them more receptive to our telemarketing offers to keep their premiums relatively low until deep into next year.

A delay would kill the sense of urgency that's starting to build. I imagine that agents in states where 2014 premiums have been released are writing business like crazy right now.

My sales picked up in May, school let out and they went right down the tubes and have stayed there. BC down here started sending out direct mail pieces for people to get a little booklet about obamacare, so they send them in and their information comes back to us as a lead, which they are but not now but rather in October and then they get upset when I don't have the piece that BC was suppose to send out. At first BC did a good job of sending the info before we'd even call, but for the past week these people have been waiting on their little booklet and are upset that the field agents don't have them to send. If anything I have around 400 people to call first week of October and building.

Yes a delay would put us down the tubes for another year and I cannot afford to hang on.

It's really ironic that most of us here and in my office wanted this overturned so bad a year ago and now we're finding if it's killed at this point we're all screwed, that is if you're primarily in the individual and group market. If it is delayed the only thing left is small group and that would be iffy.

The new sales this year (for me) have nothing to do with the mandate. Rather, it is fear of high rates next year.
