what do you know about thisThe California Department of Insurance and the Department of Managed Health Care have released regulation AB2842 effective January 1, 2009. This bill regulates the marketing of Medicare Parts A, B, C and D along with Medicare Supplement plans. It states that it is considered "unfair business practice" for a health insurance agent or broker to sell, solicit, or negotiate the purchase of health insurance using "cold lead advertising". This means marketing materials must state up front that the purpose of the marketing is to sell health insurance and that contact will be made by a health insurance agent or broker.
