My wife just got chili cheese fries yesterday in King's Beach after a hike. They were absolutely perfect...and no beans!

This thread has been rough on an old man who has not had anything to eat since May 3 and not looking to have anything in the near future. Only thing by mouth is a quarter cup of ice chips this afternoon.

I'm sorry to hear that Louis. Any timeline as to when eating will be possible again?

More than likely never.. but I am not giving up hope.. Working with a speech therapist (even though it has nothing to do with speech) to see if we can strengthen the throat muscles. The muscles have deteriorated over time and the epiglottis has shrunk due to the radiation therapy I had 12 years ago. Radiation is the gift that keeps on giving. Would be happy to be able to drink a cup of coffee. Asking everyone to say a prayer or send up good thoughts on my behalf....

I am not really a praying guy.
However, my mornings are normally having a cup out by the pool listening to the birds.
Tomorrow, I will think of you with my cup and send up good wishes.

Have a peg tube in my stomach. I take 6 8 ounce cans of a chocolate looking fluid called Jevity daily. Can't taste it but it smells terrible. Even makes the urine stink. Medicine has to be crushed, mixed with water and injected through the tube.

Because of several family members with ALS, I'm somewhat familiar with the tubes. Pretty unpleasant, but keeps them from getting lung infections from misdirected food. I know it's better than choking all the time, but it must be hard to smell something cooking that you won't be able to eat! We'll keep praying!

Many prayers, love and light your way. Those tubes are a real pain but will keep you afloat until all is better.

Are you losing a lot of weight? My brother got a tube and started radiation 2 weeks ago. He's losing a lot of weight and they might stop the radiation so he can start eating again.

Oh man, I love me some good cornbread. I don't bake, and it's something we don't see around here in northern Ca very often.

The best I ever had was with cracklins in it. So good, it'll make you want to smack your mama.
