Rental Reimbursement

This may be my first post , but i lurk around the forums alot, I registered just to throw my 2 cents in.
GEICO is actually a great company, i started my career there when i was 18 , i will agree that its really hit or miss whether you get an agent on the phone who knows what there talking about, but while i was an agent there , there were plenty of times i would do a 3 way call with a "local agent" who didnt know his a** from a hole in the wall.
GEICO actually does have local agents, grant it not near as many as other companies but they are still out there in strategic states. They offer better training than 90% of other companies out there. I went from GEICO as an agent to AllRisks as an underwriter , now I am a captive local agent.

GEICO is designed for the preferred risk , and they get them , alot. I wrote policies for every type of person while i was there from College professors to hobo's to congressmen. Perfect credit to horrid credit. My wife actually still works there as an auto sales manager.Did i like working there ? Helllll no. But i had it nice compared to alot of othes there.

Lastly GEICO drills into there agents to sell based on coverage not price. But the problem is the bonus is paid on # of policies sold not premium. So we were more likely to sell lower coverages if thats what was asked by the customer just to get the policy on our numbers. Now there were plenty of times i would tell a customer they were making a horrible decision by going min limits or only doing x-amount of coverage on there home.

You lost ALL credibility when you said Geico wants the preferred risk, when you said their training is better then 90% of the other companies, Geico is actually a great company.

So, now that you have no credibility, if the company is so great, then why did you quit?

I find it hard to believe any 800 "agent" knows more then a fulled trained agent, captive or IA.

After 8 years as an agent, I am still waiting to hear a GOOD Story about Geico, all I hear is negative negative negative.

I quit because I thought I'd like being an underwriter more than an agent. I didn't like being strapped to phone all day either. With that being said geico is designed for the preferred customer . They write through 6 different "companies " ultra preferred down to hell no non standard incredibly shitty.

Fully trained Captive or IA? What would even constitute that "credential" any schmuck can say they are fully trained. From being an underwriter I can't tell you how many agents called asking te most basic dumbass questions ever on a daily basis.

I'm pretty sure this intial post counts as a good story. Google any company and your going to see 90% negative 10% positive. When there's no problems people don't step up. But the minute a customer feels wronged they will write the most scathing review of a company even if there is no merit to it. It's all in the power of numbers the more policies thy have the more chances of someone complaining is .

I said before not all geico agents are very knowledgeable, hell even some of management is pretty inept, but as an agent you do 10-20 quotes a day? A geico agent will do 50-60. You only learn more by doing more. **** I know of 5 people that are agents there and have been for 10-15 years who easily make over 6 figures just workin m-f 9-5. And that's without the headache of cold calling, marketing, overhead, and everything else that comes with being a local agent.
Would I ever go back? Hell no , I hate being strapped to a phone, I don't like my piss breaks being timed, and I would much rather write commercial all day long.
