Rental Reimbursement

That right therre is why he is with GEICO... 4 cars stolen and 2-3 accidents. I imagine when you did shop it was after claims when your rates increased. For the most part your carrier will always tend to be a bit more competative right after a claim. I suggest you go shop when you are clean 3-5 years no claims and no tickets. I have no problem destroying GEICO's rates in CA, UT, NV, and OR when its on a preffered risk and I imagine many of the independents here can say the same for the most part.

Thanks for your answer, but why not read the question first? Refer to post #8 and my original question (post #1)

This is not about paying high rates for insurance or getting hit with an increase. I was asking advice about getting my rental reimbursement extended past the 30 days in my policy. And that was done.

Those accidents and stolen cars were over a 30 year period. And, 2 of those 3 accidents were not charged to my policy because I was not at fault.I have NEVER had a rate increase due to any blemishes on my record. I also mentioned that I have a good driver discount.

Again, in NY, GEICO is very competitive. I'm happy to hear that you can "destroy GEICO's rates in CA, UT, NV, and OR". I'm impressed and if I ever move to one of those states, I'll look you up.

Agreed, stolen cars are considered no-fault and does not cause an increase in rates.

Now if someone is constanly claiming a stolen car, I'd imagine the company would cancel your policy and not raise rates.

Would 2 chargeable accidents over a 30 year period effect rates? Never happened to me.

by chargeable do you mean at fault ?

Some companies only go back 3 year some go back 5.

Depends on the amount of the claim paid out. For my carrier anything at fault usually does not affect the rate if it is under $1400.

Yes, One accident my wife's car was hit in the rear while she was stopped at a red light and the other was the accident that I had last month when a guy blew through a stop sign.

Not sure why everyone has a problem with GEICO, other than the fact that their agents must be captive and independents can't sell their policies.

Yup, that must be it.

GEICO does not have agents, they have a 1800 Number.

They do not provide an avenue for an agent or broker on this site to build a book of business through.

They also do a poor job of providing a potential insured with the consultative experience of getting a quote. When I called GEICO for a quote, they did nothing to build rapport with me, did not ask be about my current coverage, and provided me with a rate without explaining what I was buying.

With GEICO you are not assigned one specific representative who knows you and your current situation. Everytime you call, you speak to a different person.

GEICO is for the price shopper, not the educated preferred risk consumer.

^very well said, if you are a preferred risk consumer there are much better carriers to shop
