The company is free to offer a subsidy if they wish, but until the extension is approved it is not mandated by law. The expiration of the last extension meant no more subsidies for those on a COBRA subsidy beyond the current 15 months. It also meant those who qualify for COBRA from 6/1 forward are not eligible for a taxpayer subsidized benefit.

That is correct. 6/1 or after, no required subsidy for COBRA or mini-COBRA for start dates of 6/1 or after.

It is now officially dead, defeated today 57-41. No extension of jobless benefits, no subsidy for COBRA for anyone eligible after 5/31.

Hey, you could have the reverse. I have a couple that are losing retiree benefits. Problem is the "trust" keeps extending the final month. It was Feb. then May... no June... oh wait... we can pay to Sept.

Hard for a senior to plan around a moving target.
