Incidentally, there are companies that take care of the bureaucratic portion of this for you. I have some friends who are going this route because they do not have the time nor the inclination to create the entitiy and do all the filings through FINRA. My understanding is it costs in the $3,000 range to go that route plus an annual fee of $250 or so to keep up with the filing updates.
Is that worthwhile if you don't want to try and do it yourself? I don't know. Is doing whatever it takes worthwhile? Yes.
