Securus Release Policy?

Does anybody happen to know what Securus's release policy is? Can they hold me captive for 6 months even though I haven't done any business with them for 10 months? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Your best bet is to call any carrier you're appointed with through securus.

Absolutely they can and they will. Securus is the worst company after NAA when you try to exit. They just want you to be screwed even if it does them no good.

Some groups do 6 months, others do 12 months. Like Ex Health Agent said, call the carriers and find out if/when you're eligible to move.

If you haven't already done so, I would find some other carriers that you don't have with Securus and run with them until you can move the other contracts.

If you haven't written any business with them in 6 months you'll probably be able to move most of the contracts, if not all.

Depends on the company. When I was moving my Oxford contract from EFES to fex they wouldn't move it without a written release from EFES. I had never written an app with them. It wasn't an isue for me to get that written release but I asked them why it was needed. They said I couldn't write business for 6 months without a release. I said, "done" I haven't written anything Oxford in over 6 months. They said the 6 months started on the date of the new contracting paperwork.

EFES sent them a release so it was all good but if they hadn't Oxford would have made me wait out 6 more months.

I do realize that different companies have different rules. I was speaking in generalities of most companies.

I didn't think Securus even dealt with Oxford, do they?

Hi Guys,

Here's my understanding about Securus: if you are with AM/AM you will be terminated on Sept. 27 because the whole IMO is ending their relationship with the carrier. Some agents will be able to re-contract but some many not be. It's based on if the agent misused the free AD&D plan.

Yes, Securus has a carrier relationship with Oxford.

Oxford's policy is that you must CANCEL your contract for 6-months not just sit on it and not write business. If you go three years with no business and want to change uplines, you still have to cancel it for 6-months first unless your current upline signs a release.

I don't know if any other companies do that or not.

I called Monumental yesterday, and they told me as long as I have not written a policy through Securus in the past 6 months, I am free and clear to move my contract which I will do (why stick with 1% renewals....).:D
