Senior Market Expo - Vegas!

If any of you are going to Vegas...stop in that pawn shop on tv and take some pics or buy me something... If I go to Vegas, that is the 1st place I'm going...My fav tv show.

Have to agree Mark...Characters are great, but the amount of History and how excited they get about it is just as cool.

Best way to sum up Pawn Stars: Guy walks in, wants $1,000 for his item, they offer $100 and he takes it followed up by "They drive a hard bargain". This show defines the art of negotiation(s) on what to do and what not to do.

Yeah, I got an idea. Go in there and get the big fat kid to help you tell him you'd like to pawn your watch. Let him look it over and give you an offer after he tells you $30 bucks or whatever squint your eyes at him and say in a soft low voice "you chiseling bastard".
:D

In every day real life, they don't allow the expert to tell the client how much something is worth.

Like I saw one where they guy wanted 100 bucks for something and the expert told him it was worth 11k. SO he offered him 5 for it. In real like, he would have just paid him the 40 bucks after researching it.

I was in Vegas for Christmas last year (my parents live there) and drove past the pawn shop. There was a line waiting to get in, and this was 2 in the afternoon.

I decided not to wait as I had my wife and kids with me, but if I was solo I would have waited.

A Pawn Broker researching an item amounts to them doing an ebay search for the product to see what the going prices are.

They have to some times bring in something to see if something is real or not. Also, if something can be fixed.

I wish they had a website where you could buy stuff from them online.

I love that show but it doesn't represent true negotiation because the people who come in are in a position of weakness.

If they decline the pawn shop's offer they either have to sell it at auction or list it on a site like Ebay. Both require a lot of effort on their part.
