Sentinel Life New Approvals

Yep, that's what I thought - we're talking about completely different people.
The Med Supp and Med Supp with FE (combo apps) are administered through a TPA in Tampa - that would be the great folks we've been dealing with. Like I posted earlier, they got their life side's act together since the old days but we're not dealing with the FE-only life side, anyway. Watch the company's webinar that you can see a replay of here. It explains the changes that occurred in 2009, including the new final expense product line that came out in January, 2010.

Imagine going into a sandwich shop three years ago and getting horrible service, then you drive by today and see a sign that says, "New Management" and the same location is now a seafood restaurant you're hearing rave reviews about from your friends. You refuse to check it out because, back when it was a sandwich shop, the sub-maker was rude.

You are correct. The Sentinel Security Life people I am speaking about are at their HO in Utah.

Last attempt to get service for a client was about 3-4 months ago. Status Quo. They suck!

As long as they did not keep the same cooks that gave me Ecoli food poisoning.

I do not do med sups (yet) so it must have been a different office. But I am a Professional Life Insurance Agent, so it was not a good match for me or my clients. I have other choices.

dubya4472 must have spoken to the same people. I was answering his post.

I am not trying to cause any grief. It is better for me if other agents write Sentinel Security Life anyway.

If it is a different company, serviced by different people, I wish them well.

i've noticed the Sentinel application for Louisiana is exactly identical to the Application being used by MOO, Gerber, Assured Life/WOW and GPM.

I hope that the underwriting is different however-hopefully more liberal. I need to have a plan for those that get declined by the Omaha underwriters.

Can anyone tell me what the underwriting is like when compared to Omaha?

It is not. As you noted on the similarity between applications, the Sentinel TPA mirrored many of the findings that Mutual & Company have done with regard to application approvals and underwriting guidelines.

That said, you can see the Underwriting Guidelines for Sentinel Life at
this link.

If you need something for the folks you describe, Plan N from Mutual of Omaha is fitting the bill.

You as the agent, for all practical purposes are the "underwriter". You indicated that you were looking at the app.

If a prospect successfully answers "No" to all of the appropriate health questions honestly then for the most part the company will issue the policy. It is extremely rare for a company to order medical records on a new Med Supp applicant.

If the prospect answers "Yes" to any of the health questions that required a "No" then there is no logical reason for the agent to submit the application.

When I first started selling insurance there was a substantial difference in the health questions from one company to another. Today the health questions are very similar on all applications for Med Supp insurance.

I would always favor the companies who had the most comprehensive health questions on their app. Typically those were the companies who had the fewest and smallest premium increases.
