SEO for the Rest of Us

The best way to get in the search engines is by blogging. There is constantly new content. Websites aren't usually fresh. How often do you update a website? Not very often. Meta Tags and keywords embedded into the html of your site isn't enough. Then you have to learn how to pick your battles. I wouldn't dare try to rank for the term "term life insurance". There are 25.2 million listings on Google. If you check out Somarco's blog, you'll see a good site. They have plenty of content and it's an authority site. It has a Page Rank of 5. It might not be a bad idea to start a blog with a couple of insurance buddies. Just gotta find a way to split up the leads as they come in. Backlinks are important as well. Consider them as votes. If you get a backlink from a site with a higher PR than yours, it boosts your site's credibility and boosts you in the search engines.

Thanks for the compliment, biggest problem with Insurance websites (1) Renting these sites from Norvax and Quotit. Quotit for SEO is the Worst, You as an individual or someone that you hire to optimize your site, will have to go thru Quotits technichians to make any changes. Horrible and complete waste of money. Norvax sites can be optimized easily. I would recommend buying your site from someone like www.TRWebWizard.com I have seen the work and the cost, and I have not located anything more affordable, and she has the ability to put your Norvax or Quotit engine on the site. I would also like to add, that you want full control of your site, Dont let outfits suck you in on their Monthly packages, Also stay away from Insurance Agent Websales,(Sorry this is the link to this mans mind!!!) just follow the links on this site and Contact Information and find out who is really completing your work. Honestly Stay Away!!!!! These sites are as well under this webmasters control,($500.00) complete websites. He charges you extra for any changes, and the changes go thru him. Also this individual only works with clients thru email. Dont give him your money, trust me on this one.

I agree. Even though I can hand-code xHTML, I blog frequently because it is so much easier to add content via a blog post than it is to create a new page in the traditional way. Adding the content is easier and the internal linking is done for you.

Of course, some pages should be in the body of your website, but for other pages, blogging is so much easier.

By the way I started blogging when I noticed the impact it had on Bob's site.
