SEO Rankings

I'm not using my site for lead generation - was just curious as to what the consensus is on the cost vs. results ratio of doing SEO (assuming you are not doing it yourself).

I do my own SEO so I don't know that answer. However, I do know that SEO people are rarely both cheap and good. Far too often they are neither.

There are good people in the business, but make sure that you do your homework.

There have been threads on the forum where the names of good SEO people were mentioned. You may want to do a search and PM some of the posters.

Traffic doesn't even really start unless you are in the top three listings, let alone page 5, but like Alston said, page 5 is better than 100...
Rank
% of Clicks Visits per 1,000
1 42.1% 421
2 11.9% 119
3 8.5% 85
4 6.1% 61
5 4.9% 49
6 4.1% 41
7 3.4% 34
8 3.0% 30
9 2.8% 28
10 3.0% 30

Here's the stats:

I still go beyond page 5 when i do my google search. I still see relevant websites listed in those pages. But beyond page 10, I better use a different search term.

I know that it could take months to see some convincing results in SEO, so one has to be patient. With regards to ranking an insurance website, its going to be a stiff competition since there are hundreds of insurance websites vying for the top pages in google - well I guess this is true in general SEO.

Or maybe it's just me, I still look past page 5. Even if I use a different search term, its the same high ranking sites that are shown in the result.

Very very few people ever look beyond page 1 - most people will change the query rathe than keep looking.
