Ad nauseum indeed.
One after the other they congratulate "Madam Secretary" for all her hard work.
It will be so great once they have the exchange up and running so that, unlike now ..., consumers can look at different companies plans side by side ... ? And don't forget healthcare.gov.
Pay more, get less. You bet. You think it sucks now middle class? You ain't seen nothing yet. You are in for a whole new dimension of suckage. Say bye bye to whatever access you have now as you are forced, by mandate to pay for the unfortunate and the lazy. At least you will have the comfort of knowing that those governing you are unaffected as you idly sit by waiting to see what will happen.

The public is, by and large, uninformed and misinformed. The proof is in the elections.

The government, with the help of public ignorance, is moving us toward Medicare for all.

Problem is, Medicare is broke and broken and this will only make it worse.

What do you expect when Prince Harry just the other day says Medicare and Social Security are fine and the interviewer doesn't skewer him and mount his head on a pike for all to see.

Here's the problem. 2014 and beyond will be a train wreck. Oh my gosh, what can we (the govt) do to correct this? Govt takeover of healthcare. Obama and co. are a bunch of lying thugs.

And it will only look cheaper as premiums either disappear or decrease because the cost is picked up on the back end as taxes.

Al -

You basically have your medicare deal already. You just aren't doing all of the math.

Add all the taxes that you pay that goes to support medicare to your $400 a month extra premium (if that is enough to make it work) and you'll see you are coming towards the $600 a month you pay for your HSA. Problem is, Uncle Sam makes you pay for Medicare whether you use it or not.

So you are right. If I asked clients if they wanted to pay taxes and pay for health insurance or just pay taxes and get insurance, they would probably opt for the latter. If I asked would they skip paying taxes and get health insurance, they might just opt for that.

All that said, no doubt health insurance premiums are way to high. Problem is, its not the carriers causing this, its the costs of providing healthcare.

Nope, I don't even like liberals crying in the morning. It means they haven't seen the errors of their ways yet. Taxes are not the solution, they are the problem.

Taking away freedom and liberty is not the solution, it is the problem.

Al-
I believe you are missing an important component in your question- I do not trust the govt to run Medicare/healthcare/anything efficiently. HCR has changed my thinking concerning govt's role in society.
Who is going to do better with your dollar-private enterprise or the government? We need as limited a govt as possible. Period.

The other thing that I wasn't clear on....

He made up the $400 figure to make it sound compelling. It would probably be more like $800-$1000 (which I made up). A lot less compelling.
