Slow Business

I have been in the business a little over 6 months and business is really slow. I need some advice on everything....I thought I was doing well setting about 8 appointments a week and closing at least 3. All of sudden after the holidays, business has slowed...almost to a standstill.

Is it my phone skills? Is it my closing skills? I love the business and since I work mostly with seniors, I love the targeted market. What are some of the things all of you do to get through these slow times?

Thanks
Dee

I have been in the business 28 years and my January was very slow, partly due to my taking off most of December. I found my business always is slower in January for whatever reason. Calling more folks will solve the problem, always does.

It probably has nothing to do with your phone or closing skills because if you're a newby and setting 8 appointments a week it sounds like you were doing pretty good.

I would say it would probably have to do with your prospecting...you have to keep your "pipeline" full. As soon as you slow down on your prospecting that's when your business slows down as well. The holidays are notorious for this because naturally we want to take time off to spend with our families and friends.

I just had the best Jan of my short career because I busted my ass prospecting in December only taking a few days off. It paid off for me.

Keep prospecting (whatever method you're doing) and you'll see the increase in business. Good luck!

I think Joseph is dead on, it was likely the loss of "MO". Businss flow has a life of it's own and it cycles, just stick to your knitting as both these folks say. Tax time does odd things too and we are descending upon that as well........

Thanks for the reality check. I appreciate it. I just wanted to make sure that I was not the only one out there having issues.

Anytime can be slow in this business. Never have that mentality that it's a slow time because that will affect your persistence and you may give up easier. Keep a positive attitude at all times and assume the sale at all times and in all situations. There are conditions you can't control like insurability and the like. As long as you have products that are competative and the best value for the customer's situation keep plugging and learning. The longer you're in this business the easier it is to read customers and move on to the next prospect when someone is wasting your time. Stay focused. Sometimes I need this exact advise to keep me going.

Keep plugging.

My business dropped off the first couple of weeks of January. Now it is getting back on track.

Business will have slumps. I can almost predict which months, and which weeks will be dead.

Hang in there.
