SmartChoice?? Anyone Done Business Under them

I went to your site, left a message how VA cluster group shows for PA. I went back a couple days after and there is no more VA groups, but still no PA clusters either. How about getting some in there?

Development has advised me that this issue should be fixed, the only issue you may see now is a "West Virginia" only groups showing up under "Virginia" and are working on a fix for that. Other than that, you are good to go. Do not hesitate to bring up other issues, I want you to have a positive user experience that not only work, but works well. You can also reach us by the "contact us" page on the site.

Sludgesurfer,

I don't have enough posts to pm, so go ahead and pm me your email address if you would like and I can shoot you an email. I know I'm not supposed to give out too many details of the contract, but I can answer a couple of your questions.

They very well might not be the right choice for you. I know it was a hard decision for me! They all have their pluses and minuses that's for sure.

I know it depends on your location and Master Agency, but I would STRONGLY suggest SIAA. I have been with them for a little over 3 months, and am very happy with them so far. After 1 month, I was directly appointed with 7 PL carriers, 1 CL carrier, as well as appointed with a surplus lines broker, and a few different bond markets that they didn't have a market for. If there is a market they don't have, they are very willing to let you do your own thing. But, as I said, this does depend on your location and Master Agency.

I did a lot of research before I made my decision. It is a long-term commitment, and an investment from the beginning, but if you are in it for the long term, it is well worth it! I know I would not have been able to write the amount of business I have so far because I wouldn't have had direct appointments to the carriers I do now.

I do a lot of quoting, and couldn't imagine having to go through an underwriter to write business...I think there is a lot of value in being directly appointed. What if you need to service a policy? Do you need to go through SmartChoice then too? These are things you have to think about too.

When you say directs appointed with the carriers does that mean you have access to their underwriters and everything? Is SIAA still taking a cut on the commission you write since you are directly appointed?

I have my own Agent code for the carrier, with access to Underwriters and everything. Yes they still gets their cut....these carriers are only willing to appoint me since I am a part of SIAA, so it's well worth it.

SIAA take a cut of All your commission except life and health. In my opinion it well worth having access to all the big players in the market.
