So, How Does This All Work?

Frank reminds me of a hypnotist I saw once. He just has that voice. If he ever decides to take up another hobby besides goats, I would suggest being a hypnotist.

You are getting sleepy, very very sleepy. You will order two copies of YIO every Monday for the rest of your life and drink three glasses of goat milk every day. :D

I am somewhat new to MedSupp, but have been selling health insurance for 25 years. Your concerns are completely misplaced. Why do you care about being a G.A? Find a good G.A. (like Frank), he will teach you everything you need to know, learn the product and needs, and techniques inside and out, become extremely proficient, and then go out and sell on your own terms. Lastly, a very good client tracking system, like the one that Frank provides is a must.

Well, for one, right now I do not own my book. I would like to. I get renewals, but only if I stay with my GA. So if I want to go out on my own and "own" my future clients, I will supposedly lose what I have worked for up until that point. So, I figure, better sooner than later, right? But again, I may sound like I don't know what I want, because I don't fully understand how it all works.

I think your priorities are wrong. You should be concerned with learning the product, how to sell it, and most importantly where will the prospects come from. For over 25 years, most of my business has been placed thru various GA's-never once had issues or problems. Perhaps someone that has done MedSups for along period of time could enlighten us both.

A suggestion:

You may already be doing this. I did not.

Keep your own files. Or at least a scan of the client info. If or when you leave the GA they may demand your client files. You want to be able to send a letter to these people. Or have info on leads or referrals in them. <Yeah, yeah, non-compete> I was with John Hancock and wrote a lot of business in my short two years there. Left every file there. Dummy!
