So what is your take?

Just remember fellow agents-- if CMS can come along and ruin the commissions now, who's to say they won't ruin the renewals later? And, if you are banking on clients staying on the books, just remember the old theory on governmental intervention... "what CMS tries to govern (reduction in churning) will usually have the OPPOSITE effect... POLICY DOCTOR'S GOT IT. As for me, I am officially out of the Medicare market. Good luck, blokes... :wubclub:

Can the renewal commissions be changed next year or are we guaranteed CMS and the insurance companies are done screwing with us? If I was a more trusting person I would be happier.

Yup. What they giveth they can taketh away.

I am hearing of some FMO's dropping Humana in the last few days. Seems more than just a few of us here are pissed at Humana and blaming them for the commission issues.

No agency will survive with the kind of comp Humana is offering. Funniest thing is that Most of Parker and Asses overrides came from Humana LOL!

With everything we've all gone through over the last month, commissions have come out on the good side of what could have been very bad.

Once everything is finalized we'll know for sure, but as an FYI, all of these commissions are "proposed" until CMS "approves" them. CMS can still come back and require any company to adjust their commission again.

If everything stays the same, 2009 will be a good start...

Now it's time to beg these companies for more supplies...

Yeah, it's off to a great start. I got $400 for Wellcare in '08, now I will get $120. What kind of math makes that good for the agent?

Hanson, KY may be a low comp area, but most of the markets are around $250 (not just WellCare).

After CMS's call on Monday evening, the companies were talking about renewals @ $175. Commissions are better than what they could have been.

Yes, but you said '09 was off to a good start if everything stays the same.

Still, even for the ones that pay $200 renewals, how is that better than $400? You can't put enough lipstick on this pig to make it anything but a pig.

AgentPipline is in the spin room! :spinny:

This MA CMS run biz is not sustainable!

wilkin said it best:

"I don't think you can write someone a MA then sit back and just watch the renewals roll in for five more years like a med supp. These plans are labor intensive to hold onto from year to year. And the more you write each year the less time you have to spend retaining your business because of the limited enrollment periods."
