Social Media Marketing and Insurance

In recent years Social Media Portals like Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, YouTube etc. have become household names. The populations on these portals has crossed more than 600 Millions.

Considering the fact that this population of netizens belong to that section of the society, which has good buying power, no business (insurance included) can afford to ignore this channel.

I would like to hear comments from the members on this portal, that how they are utilizing Social Media to sell insurance, create awareness and update knowledge of their existing clients.

I have been using Facebook from the beginning of my agency (about 1.5 years). One way I was able to get customers was to create a group of ex school friends and message them that my insurance company was having a contest to see who could quote the most insurance within a month. I got one really great customer from that.
