Has anyone tried this.

Use the Direct Express or Rush Debit card number as the account number for eft. Then you call the number on the mall of the card and get the routing number.

I had an agent in TN use this method this week. He called me while in the home in an AmCon app. Lay would not qualify for 5Star.I called AmCon to ask if they had the direct express setup yet and the agent service rep said not but here is how you can get around it.

Makes sense. The money has to be deposited into an account somewhere in order for them to have it in their card.

1st draft is 10/3/13. We will see if it works.

That might work with ACI, because they don't require a voided check.

The card is attached to a bank in TX the name of the bank is on the back of the card. The Prblm he will have is when they go to draft it will not work.

You know it won't work?

I would think it could. The bank may not want you to know it's possible as they don't make money off an ACH like they do with MasterCard. Hopefully they are using the card number as the account number.

The problem I've encountered is that the account number is not the same as the number on the card. Not sure, but that might be a bank rule. Granted, it's been a while since I last tried this.

Ya I know it won't work the number on the card is not the acct#. It's the MasterCard Debit number. I've tried on a number of prepaid debit cards non of them worked. I've not bothered on the SS debit card but I would be shocked.

I am a little concerned about the card number and acct number being the same. That didn't seem right to me but when the agent and client called the operator said it was the same.

Keeping my fingers crossed.

I've tried that before and it did not work. Got the routing number and the proper account number that is different from the one on the card. Tried that lady with 2 different companies and neither could get it to draft.

Aren't there companies that take credit/debit cards but will not take the SS/Direct Express Mastercard? If so then they can't be lumped together. Something makes them different. Anyone know what?

Yes 5Star will take the Direct Express card. Using the card account number and getting the bank routing number for other cards will generally not work, unless it s a Net Spend card (sometimes). With other cards the draft will be returned (even if you get the account and routing number) because the account is "non-transactional," meaning that you can use the routing and account number for direct deposits, but not for EFT payments.
