Just a slight brag, even though it isn't much.

I work out of a new office for an insurance company in rural Iowa. I've been struggling to get people in the door but I just managed to sell my first Home and Auto policy today. Pretty big step and hopefully word of mouth will start to bring others in.

My main focus is on farm and ranch insurance, but I will never complain when I sell a home or auto policy!

Don't forget life ins with those farmers when making a P&C sale. Keeping the family farm in the family is a major issue that life ins can address for estate purposes. And those farmers frequently need million $+ policies to meed the tax issues. The commision on just one of those will make your month.

congrats on your first policy. Its a great feeling but don't limit yourself, write anything and everyhting that walks in your door. Don't wait for the business to come to you go out and grab it. Good Luck.

Congrats!
You're career has just taken a big step forward, from wanting to be an insurance agent to now being an insurance professional.

Now, as your manager will tell you, as the professional you are, go sell the next one....

Great advice above.
Now you sold your first few policy how does it feel?
What is the commission like?

I'm not licensed in life and health yet, but it is on the docket. We are an office of 4, three in the main office and myself in a new location. One has their life/health and writes quite a bit of it and I know they want me to get mine as well.

First sale by myself felt great! I blundered my way through it but the couple I sold to were happy!

Commission isn't much, it was $2k overall premium and since I am salary, I only get a small percentage of the commission, which is fine by me.

I work an in indy office (or couple offices) with four producers total. The community sizes of our two locations are 500 and 600 citizens, so small and tight knit group. Hard to get your foot int he door with some!

Congrats and Way to Go! :) it's a great feeling!

One thing i was told when i started is that you only sell what you propose, so always quote home, auto, umbrella and life (plus whatever else you have) on each appointment. (once you get that L&H license)
