Sold My First Policy!

Do not depend just upon word of mouth. Get out and tell people what you do. Drink coffee at the dinner or wherever people hang out. This is especially good on bad weather days because the farmers will be in town.

xrac, you're exactly right. We had a tough spring which has given the farmers plenty of time to be at the coffee shop. My first week up here, I paid for coffee and cookies from 6 AM - 9 AM, I was up there for part of it as well. While I mostly caught the 60-75 year old crowd, it was still nice to get to know some people.

Now that planting is almost done and they've rolled to spraying, I'm thinking another coffee will be coming up shortly!

Thanks for all the words of advice!

In a small community like you are in maybe you should go to all the businesses with some homemade cookies and business cards. It is an idea.

That is a great idea! We already write one of the larger businesses in town and I'm just working on quoting one of the construction companies as well.

I'm hoping to get out and meet some of the farmers with a local guy I know, but between planting and now spraying, there hasn't been a lot of time to do it. Not that I don't mind meeting them myself, but they are stressed to the hilt this year and I need to make as many great first impressions as I can!
