Sooooooo.....today is the 15th, Anyone Seen PCIP Rates?

.

How will PCIP know if you have been insured or not?

Good question! Does the state or federal government now have access to every insurance company's database? That's the only way they will KNOW that a person has been insured during the 6 months prior to applying to the High-Risk Pool policy. Uh..I suppose they could call the applicant's doctor too.

This is the gubbamint.

The same folks that let Medicare fraud run rampant in Miami Dade county for years.

Florida mental health clinics submitted $421 million in bills to Medicare last year -- about four times more than Texas and a whopping 635 times higher than Michigan, both also hotbeds of healthcare rackets, according to government records.
Florida rehabilitation facilities billed $310 million for physical and speech therapy -- 140 times more than New York and 10 times higher than California, records show.

In 2008, Medicare paid $520 million to Miami-Dade home healthcare agencies for treating diabetic patients -- more than what the agency spent in the rest of the country combined, according to federal authorities.

If they can't figure that out, why do you think they will be able to find out if you had prior insurance or not?

Disclaimer. I am not suggesting in any way that individuals attempt to defraud the government.

These guys are brilliant. I wonder how long you have to go to school to be an insurance commissioner.

"There's no question that lower prices make some difference," said Michael Keough, executive director of the North Carolina Health Insurance Risk Pool. North Carolina, where rates range from $183 to $729 a month, has enrolled 513 people, tied with California for fourth highest in the nation.

Michael McRaith, director of the Illinois Insurance Department, said he believes that price is an important motivator. The plan in his state, where premiums begin at $111 a month, has attracted 664 enrollees. "The lower the costs the more likely people are to enroll," he said.

Who would have thought that affordability was important in buying insurance?

Setting the bar for president of the US is quite low as well. He supports Pelosi's view that extending unemployment benefits is good for the economy.

So they are cutting premiums by 20% somthing private insurers don't do....Could that be because private insurers price their plans on actuarial figures....You are already insuring people with pre-existing conditions that get them denied coverage on the private side so you are going to lower premiums even more....Glad its not my money....oh wait its my tax base and chinese money.

Obviously they have been overcharging the 8,000 or so folks who already bought. Wonder if they will get a retroactive rate adjustment?
