Starting a New Business... Need Help!

Hi All,

I need some advice about how to start my new insurance business in NJ. I have a travel agency and I would like to add another option for my clients and I thought the insurance industry would be the best fit for my business.

I took P&C Insurance classes 2 month ago and last week I passed my P&C State Exam. Now, I would like to know what I need to do to start running my business.

I did some research online and so far I'm confused with the following:

1) Should I joint a private company or an insurance wholesaler?

2) An Agency management system - which one should I use?

Any advice would be appreciated...

Thank you very much! :)

Karen

1. You should try to acquire direct appointments whenever possible only use wholesalers for companies you cannot get appointed with.

2. I would start with something like QuickFile.

If you would like to avoid all the time and headaches associated with starting an agency from scratch we might be able to help, in addition you can also add tax preparation to your travel agency.

Good luck.

start it at home with lowest overhead. Focus on few lines to build your book. ALLRISKS.com is a very good wholesaler in east coast. Also MERCATOR.com for all E&O and EPLI risk. I use both of them.Don't waste your time to get direct appointment in the beginning.Write some business ,then it will be much easier.
Hope that helps.

I'm really close to 20 posts so I can reach out to people. Need to make some connections and get my thing working. And soon.
