From Fox . . .

The ratios will vary as states have until 2014 to request modifications from the administration. Federal officials said four states have already requested changes in the ratio for companies in their jurisdictions and officials expect more states will join in applying.
The administration will also consider granting waivers for mini med plans -- those with typically lower premiums, lower levels of coverage and higher administrative costs.

Per the interim final report there is no waiver per say but a special adjustment that will artificially increase the denominator for 2011--applies to plans with a 250K or less annual limits. CMS will now require 1/4ly reporting of MLP for such plans. They may have only a short reprieve

Well this is encouraging - Why wouldn't every state do this? I read the Carriers donated a ton of money to the GOP with HCR in mind. I feel "positive" that they will show their gratitude and it has to trickle down to us. I mean come on - how many agents are being affected by this? We can be a huge block in the upcoming election! Do people actually believe the commission reductions could be reversed?

You don't get re-elected by giving the big bad insurance companies a free pass to keep gouging the poor taxpayer.

If you get a MLR modification, the request won't come from the state legislature, it will come from some peon buried deep inside the DOI.

Remember, in politics, there is right, wrong, and what will get me re-elected. Care to guess which one most politicians pick?

About half the insurance commissioners are Republican. That means you have a 50-50 chance of getting some relief.
