Client lives in Mi 1/2 the year, Fl other 1/2. Owns home in MI, works in both states. Takes a plan through exchange in Fl with pretty substantial subsidy. Is this OK? I am not sure why they decided to do it but their eligibility letter had no requirements. Just wondering if the client will have problems come tax-time?

Does he own home in Florida?
File as Florida resident?

If no, he should have bought on Michigan exchange.

That's gonna make for a screwed up situation

No, just has home in Michigan.

Will definitely make for a messed up situation. Would just like to advise the client and not sure who to ask.

----------

Since they move back and forth, would it make sense to change to Michigan exchange until the end of year to possibly avoid problems?

why not call the marketplace rather than ask a bunch of bozos on a free forum... we learned this months ago

They're not always correct, but they're always right.

At least go through them and do what they say so the buck doesn't stop at you.

I guess I trust the opinion of the people on this forum more than the comcast-quality bozos at hc.gov.

Anyway, I will call and ask. Thanks

The people on this forum have opinions. Our opinions don't matter. Only the opinions of the bozos at hc.goc matter.

Our opinions would be INFORMED opinions based on research and experience. What you get from goodluck.gov bears no resemblance to the truth but if they say you can get coverage at any time, for any reason, go for it.

People will almost always believe navigators over an agent.
