The Current State Of ObamaCare - ACA

Of course they like it. They are getting something for almost nothing. Although I am a bit surprised the folks on Medicaid are happy

I'd be more interested in knowing if ObamaCare Marketplace and Medicaid customers who have used their plans for sickness or injury are satisfied.

My guess is, those who tried to use them for "casual", routine claims were not real happy. In the big picture something like 85% of policyholders incur less than $2,000 per year in claims.

The other 15% generate the bulk of claims averaging more than $40,000 per year. Some exceed $100k and a few will approach or breach $1M.

You can bet the folks that have big claims have few it any complaints.

OTOH, if you are paying $10/mo for your plan you have no complaint.

With all of the subsidies for Deductibles and Co-Pays, of course they were happy.

And not just for the big stuff Bob... I will never forget the man who paid is subsidized Co-Pay with 20 quarters at my doctor.... and he was there because he had a cough for 3 days and "needed" medicine...

Using other peoples money almost always makes for a positive experience.

had a cough for 3 days and "needed" medicine..

I had a bout with bronchitis a few months ago. After almost a month and couldn't shake it, went to a walk-in clinic. I have been there before and easier than trying to schedule my regular doc.

In and out in less than 30 minutes. Doc gave me Rx for antibiotic - steroid combination to break the congestion plus, and this shocked me, an Rx for cough syrup with codeine. Also told me to pick up OTC flonase.

Told her I probably would not fill the syrup unless needed.

And I didn't.

Took about a week to shake the cough and residual.

This clinic is usually conservative in their approach. Very surprised at the codeine cough syrup. She said she gives that to her kids on a regular basis.

I guess they are hyper.

Most ObamaCare IFP customers are above 250% of FPL and get no help with the Deductible and OOP. The $6,800 OOP is higher than what most of them had before 2014. It's hard to imagine this majority rating themselves as "satisfied", if they had a sickness or injury.

Health Net of AZ, who are not cheap here and last one paying SEP commissions in AZ, sent out a notice they are no longer paying for SEP. But, they will have "competitive" commissions for OEP. Given that they pay 2% on bronze and CAT, and 4% on Silver/Gold, and are overpriced as it is....... won't make a difference to me and the 4 clients in my book.
