This is my mom from 1968. She was still a teenager when I was born in 1957, so she's still pretty young in this photo. People thought she was my sister.

She loved to dance to Motown and listen to Donovan. She also enjoyed the symphony. She put me down for a nap every afternoon beside the TV while the Lloyd Thaxton Show spun the latest hits. I grew up loving music because of her.

We were poor, but she managed to scrape together enough money to buy my first guitar and a few lessons when I was 15. She was very cool. She went to be with Jesus just before this past Thanksgiving. I miss her.

(Don't mean to be a downer, but your post reminded me of our days together before I left home in 1976.)
