The Supreme Court Might Have to Postpone?

I don't think that having those 2 vote for it really means that republicans voted for it.

I believe Snowe and Collins, Republican Senators from ME voted for Obamacrap.

I believe they only voted to get it past the filibuster 60 votes needed to start a"debate". A debate that never occurred. They voted against the bill in the final vote. I watched the subcommittee hearings, and heard the same thing from Snowe. Attempting to be bipartisan, she was responsible for this law getting past the committees and on to the floor.

Bill, thinking back on the situation, I believe you are correct. If Winter were still active on the forum I am certain he would chastise me severely for my earlier comment.

Snowe will not run for re-election meaning the Democrats will have a chance to put a real liberal in DC rather than one who only votes that way.

I never chastise anyone. Nothing but love in my posts always.

First, as discussed many times before, Obama wooed Olympia endlessly but she did not vote for Obamacrap and neither did Collins. Both of them however did vote to send it to the floor for consideration but voted against it after consideration. So if you see voting it out on to the floor for consideration as "voting for Obamacrap" then fine. For the rest of us, the vote up or down on the bill is what counts and she voted it down as did Collins. Olympia wanted to get it out on to the floor and then amend it when it was out there to see if something could be salvaged. However, Obama and company conspired to use a process that precluded amendments so she said she was done with it and voted against it. And yes I understand the point that if she never voted it out on to the floor it would have never been considered so if a person needs to be right about the assertion that she voted for Obamacrap that is the point to replay. If a person has that need. Otherwise she voted against it.

In regard to Olympia not running and being beaten by democrat or other real liberal, that is correct and puts you ahead of the view that others have which is that she is just a rino and we are going to put a real republican up against her and beat her. Not so. And Scott Brown is in the same position. A moderate or a liberal republican is as far to the right as the state is going to go. You go further to the right and you put a dem in.

However, the correct answer is "none of the above." Angus King a former governor and an independent is in the race. He will win and I am not exactly sure who he will caucus with- probably the republicans. He is very pro-business but also a moderate in many areas. Definitely no where near the commie end of the spectrum but not a hardliner either. Sort of a Romney type of guy I guess.

The political situation in Maine is a very mixed bag. We have a congresswoman who is to the left of Che Quevera and the people from that district also elected our tea party type governor who is to the right of Attila the Hun. How did that happen? Answer: We had a far left candidate for governor, an independent candidate who was also a liberal, and then a conservative. The lib votes got split between the dem and the independent so the conservative won- but there was not a three way race in the congressional race so the commie took it. And I do mean commie. Wow. She is a carpetbagger from away.

I read an article the other day that Snowe was never contacted by Obama after she voted to bring it to the floor. Not once. In all of her time in the senate, she said that it was the longest she had ever gone without contact from a sitting president. In her view, it's what's wrong with the process now, and a partial reason why everything is so partisan, when even the sitting president won't reach out to the other side and just tries to hammer everything through.

I am going to refrain from going back into that discussion because today's events are much, much more interesting and we churned that topic to death back when.

In passing though- in regard to your comment above- I remember saying that Obama thinks he can wine and dine Olympia day in and day out by having her over for breakfest frequently (which he did) but since he ignored her when she asked to introduce an amendment that "he would very shortly find out how a scorned woman acts." In addition Obama offered Olympia and the State of Maine all sorts of Mary Landrieu, and Arkansas type bribes and she would not take them. No question Olympia is a moderate or a moderate lib but he was not able to get her over into commieland.

If Obama had worked with Olympia they would have ended out with something less than what he wanted and more than what the opponents wanted but nevertheless something that the court would not be about to overturn. Frig him and the horse he rode in on. Using the reconciliation process was corrupt and toxic. Keep in mind that ulitmately this thing has not flown with not just congress and the courts but also with the public. Axeldouche would have you believe that Rush Limbaugh is the only one against it.

Acknowledging opposing views in advance as always on the Olympia thing. Not a problem.

Winter, where have you been hiding? I have certainly missed your contributions.

And your photoshop skills . . .

Dang, you didn't have to go to such extremes. Except for Black's Beach there is nothing there worth seeing.
