In response to your post, the P&C people that send me the calls do not and have not ever even attempted to write health insurance. They don't "cherry pick" anything. Before i came along they just mentioned to the callers that they didn't write health insurance and for the most part that was it. They don't even have contracts with Health companies and don't want them.

Anyway, seems to me that you are somewhat reluctant to believe that there are still good people out there that will help someone (and their customers) out without expecting something in return. But as someone who knows, they will.

Keep in mind, when anyone asks me about Homeowners Ins, vehicles, or commercial ins I always send them to my sources.

Last thing. We have such a good relationship that i have 1 of those P&C offices insured on Group coverage, and even some of the kids and grandkids with Life, cancer, and other products. Another office that helps me out invites my wife and i to the office Christmas party for 4 years running.

So, if you think it doesn't work to network like i have, you're wrong. But that's ok.

Agreed, my situation exactly. However I think it is more because of the production requirments and fees that are placed on a new rep. to get these appointments. Not because we (I) don't want the appointments, just not my focus or forte'

Unsubstantiated comment..... However, I can tell you that if I have two health agents that both want an exclusive to my book of business, one that will maybe send me a lead every now and then and another that wants to cultivate the relationship into something more exclusive, I will take the latter every day and twice on Sunday......

There is the key that may hurt you in the long run (maybe not). If a P&C agent sends you lead after lead and then is not getting the reciprosity that he feels he should, once approached by another health agent that will open his book to that P&C guy, you may lose that source.

Jacob59, I applaud your marketing creativity. But, can tell you that if another health agent walked into my office with 10,20 or 30 groups in his book and wanted to allow me exclusive access, our relationship would politely and professionally come to a close (quickly) Food for thought

That and a couple of other things. I had an excellent business relationship with a great P&C guy, that gave me all of his family and friends, and as well known as he was and respected in his community. I'll never know why he picked me, as I was 200 miles away, but two things happened 1. He got out of the business, but still sent me referrals 2. He died unexpectedly.

The people that he sent to me, are still my clients, but poof, a tremendous lead source vanished overnight.

Again, you would but not everyone would. You have to understand the relationship. There are exceptions and circumstances that happen.

Yeah, that can put a real crimp in the referral well.

I have had sugar daddies in the past. Nice while it lasts but you need to be careful not to get fat and lazy.

A buddy here in town has done very well cultivating P&C agents. He also is a type A with a short fuse so I am surprised he has maintained relationships for years.

Cross pollination is great for those who can make it work.
 
I am still trying to see the usefulness of a post such as this! LOL

I guess my $23 bucks I banked last year fairs in comparison; I will keep trying though, Thanks JACOB for your words of wisdom............................

Ms. Cesceli, our new 3 month old. Our 3 year old asked Santa last year for a little brudder; and the best we could do is another precious little girl. Little did my 3 year old, or my wife and I for that matter, know that we were already pregnant. Thanks for noticing.

I thought by putting her picture up there people on here would be more friendly to me........LOL. Since I have had her on here there has been not one bad word........Works Lika charm!!!!
