Has anyone ever used Cole X-Dates? What are your thoughts on them? Worth the $$$?? Are there any competitors to them I should check out? If it matters, I live in Colorado and do P & C.

What's the point in using an x date vs just calling raw data? I know it used to matter, but does it really make a difference anymore?

We used to use them about 5 or 6 years ago......if worked properly they can be profitable......but we got lazy and took an easier route!

We are multi line, and back in 2006 we got heavily in to internet leads.....but rather than buy leads for each line, we buy leads for only 1 line, then follow a rigorous system to get 4 LOB's out of that one lead.

We used to get x dates for auto, homeowners etc etc, but in the end we never really had much success because we were trying to do everything at the same time.

Our new approach has worked very well for us.

Why would you pay for X dates when you can get the for free by using the phone? I finished up my first year, last year, with over 500 X dates for this year.

I've used Haines directory with some success. In California, it has more info than Cole, though Cole tends to be cheaper.

Haines gives me the home building info so I could run a quote and do a direct mail campaign with the quotes based on the xdates. The quotes wouldn't be exact, but they would be very, very close.

Cole, or any other xdate list, is simply a tool that has to be used in a bigger marketing campaign. What would you do with the Cole data? Would it be a compelling campaign?

Another competitor to cole in my area is a company called Parcel Quest. They also have home reconstruction information, but not in their online product (which is a bummer). Actually, I think it is displayed, but not downloaded. I was doing 500 quotes a week, I automated the whole thing, I didn't want to have to type things by hand. They do have cd's for local use, which work well (not sure if they do Colorado though).

500 xdates sounds great. How long did it take you to get those xdates? How many hours did you spend on the phone getting hungup on? What if you spent that time already calling people that you know when their insurance is renewing? You could have 500 x-dates for every month.

Stay away from this company! They use deceptive practices with getting people to sign up for the service. The data is o.k. but you can do just as well (if not much better) by making cold calls. Many of the people I contacted on the renters list were elderly and had no interest in insurance. Many others are burned out with receiving calls just because their policies may be up for renewal. People who aren't getting bombarded with calls are more receptive to offers of insurance.

I don't believe cole has been advertising these as people looking for insurance, they're cold leads. Do they have a warm lead program you tried?
