Thoughts on Subsidies for High Income Individuals

soyou take 0 income people and turn them into business owners? Riiiight.

No. I have them estimate their income and help them apply after explaining that they will owe money if they underestimate and be eligible for a larger tax credit if they under estimate. It is good news if they have assets because they have something to pay premium with.

I've seen unexpected "income" can be generated because they wanted to buy a house and sold stock to pay for it. One person had to repay the entire subsidy because she decided to sell stock and pay off her house. At least she found consolation in having the lowest premium plan available - with a decent network.

People are always free to use the existing rules. Understanding the rules helps use them. You are (supposedly) in the business of helping people based on your having a better understanding than they. They really don't need your help if they understand the rules better than you.
