Hello Folks,

I would like to put together a top 10 list of questions we need answers to from the Carriers we represent. Over the next several months all of us will more than likely be sitting in a webinar or meeting with Carrier Reps and I would personally like to hit them with some zingers. I have 3-4 really good ones but need help. Please help me develop a top 10 list. My area of concern will be Indy/Small Group.

TIA,

Joe

Can you tell me what sets "YOUR COMPANY" apart from all of the other Health Insurance Companies that you compete against? Do you have a "specialty" product? If so, what is it and can you give a brief description of your product and what differenciates it from your competitors products (apples to apples, of course!) ?

What company do you consider to be the top-most threat to "YOUR COMPANY"? Why? And tell me why "YOUR COMPANY" is better than the threat...what do you offer that they don't?

Carriers won't have answers until summer, if then. They are waiting on HHS for direction and it is quite apparent HHS has no clue.

They are still haggling over the abortion pill and religious liberty, so how can you expect them to know something complicated when it comes to Alibamacare?

I'd love to help you with your top 10 questions, but I know the current answer will be "we don't know yet". Questions like:

1. Which exchanges will you participate in?
2. What products will you offer on the Exchange?
3. What is the commission structure for 2014 in and out of the Exchange?
4. What networks will be in the Exchange products and the non-Exchange products?
5. What percentage of your sales do you anticipate to come from each of the 5 major segments (Exchange IFP, non-Exchange IFP, Exchange SHOP for small group, non-exchange small group, and large group)?

The commission is the biggest question inside and outside the exchange.

I would also ask about 2nd year comp inside and out side the exchange.

Any demos on the new applications?

Group participation requirements?

My guess on commission right now is $200 per person with maybe a reduced rate for families. Renewals would be $100 or less. I would hope for more, but I think would be as low as I would care to go. I think it will be more generous until the government stops re-imbursing for claims in 2018, if we are around that long.

Anyone else care to guess???
