Anyone noticing how things are a changing at the insurance companies?

1) screw ups in underwriting
2)things taking longer than normal like plan changes
3)things just NOT getting done or faxes and emails getting lost
4)csr reps that are rude and unprofessional and just flat dumb
5)longer underwriting times
6)longer hold times
7) people that should be preferred go to std. rate with no reason given nor will one be given

I wont name names on here... YET... but I was told by the carrier reps that some companies have notified their UW'ers that they will be out of a job soon... October.... and most have blown out and went to another job...

I expect the indy market to grind to a halt in july.

I have not seen a total meltdown but I have seen hold times much much longer.

Customer services reps have been slipping since the MLR went into place.

Tater,
Are the companies that are slipping mutual companies or regional companies?

At this time, I am only dealing with companies that own their own networks.

I'm seeing longer underwriting times too. Just like agents, underwriters saw the writing on the wall a few years ago, and many of them have trained for other jobs in anticipation of getting the axe.

I had a chat with one of the carriers about similar issues. No, there have not been massive layoffs (of late) or folks bailing or underwriters being told they will be gone in October.

But that carrier is behind since they are testing an HMO product in a few states (for use on HIX) and using a paper app for those plans. This has put everything in slow motion but supposedly they are caught up now.
