Tow Truck Quote

I am trying to quote a tow truck on a commercial auto policy. Normally I would classify the business use on a tow truck as commercial use. In this case the tow truck is used by the owner of an auto repair for his customers only and, as such, is rarely used. Do you think I can classify this as service use instead?

Call the carrier and ask an underwriter. It's the only way to make sure you get this right.

As a side note, if you can, record the call. At least take good notes on the answer, including who you spoke to.

In the end, it doesn't matter what I say, it matters how the carrier wants to rate it.

Co sign to what Dan said. Towing is specialty niche so make sure the UW is on board. Make sure they have "on hook" coverage for the vehicles being towed.

Thanks for your help everyone. I checked with the Underwriter and no matter what a tow truck needs to be classified as commercial use.
