Tracking Leads

When I started selling FE about five months back, I purchased "Your Insurance Office" to keep track of my leads. Not to debate the merits of any particular contact manager, but I beginning to wonder if entering every lead, address and phone, is a wise use of time. I average around 50 leads a month from direct mailings. I figure after a few years, I will have a data base of nearly 2,000 people.

I would appreciate any thoughts as to the value of recording all leads.

50 leads a month would be roughly 2 per day (gave you weekends off!). Depending on your typing skills it should take between 30 sec - 3 min to enter each one. Even on the slow side you would be using 6 min a day to create a list you can utilize for a decent duration. I would venture to say most of us waste much more than 6 min per day on less useful things.

I would enter them into a database that you will still be using 5 or 10 years from now.

I would get ACT just because it's similar to what you use but with more features and millions of users. Plus it's cheap.

Much easier to do it as you go a little each day or each week and I think well worth it... you are building a solid lead pipeline for years to come.

Good point. It sucks re entering all that data. I had my YIO database imported to radius and it was a little screwy so I have to fix some info in some files.
