Trying to Break into This Industry

Mark R. started this trend!!!!:arghh:

Yes, I did. I say for the next couple of days, we take good old threads, quote the 1st post and talk about the subjects all over again.

There are a lot of people on here that are new and a lot of old post that were really good, that we just stop talking about.

Also, I'm bored and want to have more stuff to talk about.

Don't abandon those post! Let them come alive again if they have value to new agents.

The LIMRA test supposedly looks for the profile of someone who has the best chance of success in this career. (Or more accurately, it provides an insight as to who will most likely NOT succeed.) Some of the questions are pretty self-evident, such as "how many appointments does it take to get one sale?" I've seen applicants answer "20 to 30" and if that's the case for them they likely don't have a career in insurance sales ahead of them.

With that said, there is very little evidence that someone acing the test is going to be MDRT while someone just squeaking by is definitively going to struggle. I've seen agents score well, but they don't have the discipline to make the career work, while others have scored just enough to get contracted work their tails off and do quite well.

Success has many factors and the test just gives companies some form of broad yardstick to measure candidates.
