How many of you send Thank you, Birthday or Christmas cards?
One or all three? Thinking of Thank you and Bday, and possibly Thanksgiving.
What do you all think? (Thinking would automatically exclude Heidi Ho)
Is it worth the $$?

I send Thank You cards the same day I write the app. I don't send any others. It is definitely worth it to me. I have got many referrals because of it.

I've never sent any kind of card before. Just recently, I decided to start sending a Thank You card. I started by sending them to my current customers and am sending them to new customers too. I thank them for their business, offer assistance and to answer any questions, offer to review their current coverage, let them know about other types of insurance and offer to help their friends/relatives. I put 2 business cards in each one. I designed them at Vista Print. I've seen several on the coffee tables.

Well worth it. One sale paid for the cards and the postage. I've gotten quite a few cross sales and referrals from the cards...Med Supps, FE and annuities. I wish I'd done it sooner.

Mr. Ho thinks...just about the wrong things.

I always wrote hand written thank you cards after submitting the application. It seemed to be beneficial ... I never really tracked any results from them.

Send out cards is a great resource. Last time I checked, I believe it was recommended to send something out about once every 3 months and continuously ask for referrals every so often.

I know some agents will send out monthly news letters to their clients as well.

I've sent thank you cards to every buyer for 7 years now. I used to send card to everyone I met with. Either thank you or a nice to have met you card. Then I stopped sending to everyone and only sent thank you cards to buyers and a nice to have met you card to the ones that I thought were close to buying but didn't.

I always guessed wrong and the call backs were almost never from the ones that I thought would call back.

So it's only thank you cards to buyers.

I used SoC for 5 years but they are just too slow in getting the cards out. I do my own now and send the card as part of the application process. I won't put a file away until I can write, "card sent", on the lead card.

For my med sup clients I still use SoC and set them up to be sent a birthday card every year. That's when they get their rate increases so I want them to think of me if they are going to shop.

The thank you cards to the FE buyers is well worth the time and expense in my opinion. It's very rare for the person to not comment on getting the card. Many even call me and thank me for sending the card.

There's no one thing in this business that's the key to success. It's a whole bunch of little things. To me the cards are just one of those things.

Yeah I'm sure local mail beats the pants off of mail coming from somewhere else in the country (not to mention possible processing time with SOC).

If you are selling over the phone in different states, SOC might be a better option.

We send a thank you card when we write the application and again at Christmas. It's a really good way to seal the deal after the sale.
The holiday card is nice because most of our clients probably don't get many cards.
It makes them feel special and they often call or send us a holiday card.

I used to send out a thank you with every customer app, quit doing it a couple years ago (but considering starting again), my persistency is fine either way. I do send out xmas cards every year to my MS customers though.

I think this year I will send a Thank You card to current clients at Thanksgiving.. Seems an appropriate time to say, "Thank You" and the card won't be lost in a sea of other cards like it might be at Christmas or on their birthday.
