Voluntary benefits--it's a tough gig

Hello out there

I am new to this forum--I am somewhat new to insurance. I did insurance back in 2000-2001 for a college funding product and I want back in because I am in the airline industry and need out.

I have my license, am contracted with United Healthcare to sell there medicare products and with Colonial Life to sell their voluntary supps. It's a tough gig. Going door to door just to maybe get a name and then call back and you always get their voicemail. And businesses are cutting back which is suppose to be good for the supplemental industry but people are cutting back to and need to save money--not use it to pay insurance premiums.

I am really frustrated and want to stay in the business--I have checked out Policyshopper.com--seems ok and the Producers Alliance--I absolutely cannot find any info on them. I have some connections who tell me that they can write anything and if I refer they will cut me in. So what's a girl to do?? I think I want to focus on healthcare ins. I want to stay independent and I dont need to get wicked rich just make a decent income. I am willing to work hard.

Thanks for any advice anybody out there in insuranceland can give me.
Peace

I would be leary of policyshopper, anyone who wants money upfront is a bit sketchy in my opinion. If you really want to get off on the right foot contact Scott at Health Choice One, he can get you great contracts and has training to match. I would also look into joining IHIAA to get the low down on how to get up and running, if not just for the benefits.

Good Luck!

If it was "wicked pissah rich" then it would be Boston, right?

Just ask Fitzy:
