Vonage for Business?

Hello folks,

Quick question. Does anyone here use Vonage for their business lines? I used it years ago, and had good results. But I had a small amount of calls coming in, and it was a home phone.

I use Vonage for my Health Insurance Biz, the Fax line that comes with the business package seems to be rather useless and unreliable but I prefer e-fax so it's not an issue. Easily forwards to my cell for after hours and keeps good records of voice mails! Hope that helps!

I use the business package and the fax works fine. There were some settings I had to change on the fax and I haven't had much trouble in the 3+ years I have had it. I also use their text voicemail and have toll free numbers. The simu-ring thing works great for me too since I have a couple different offices I work out of.

Vonage is very practical for insurance business. I've had a lot of friends who get so much benefits from using vonage. I don't know with dropped calls but so far the quality is great.

I have no quality issues or dropped calls with vonage. You do have to have a decent internet connection.

The quality of any VOIP phone services depends much on your internet line speed. If you have internet line with good upload speed, you can use any VOIP services. There is also the codec used which affects the quality or quantity of concurrent call lines. The usual ulaw alaw codecs take more bandwidth while g729 use less bandwidth. The more bandwidth one line takes, the less phone lines your internect connection can handle. I believe that Vonage use ulaw but may support g729. I would strongly suggest anyone to use high speed internet like cable or high speed DSL or even T1 lines for their VOIP phone services, do not use the low speed DSL.

I use Vonage. The quality is good since I have a good internet connection at my office. Every now and then I have to unplug the modem and reboot. Don't know why, just shuts down. But the couple times that this has happened has not made me think it was a bad decision to switch from a land line (savings of $135 per month).

We used Vonage years ago for a mortgage business and it really cut our cost down each month. As mentioned, you have to have a good interent connection to have the results your hoping for. We never dropped any calls but sometimes, callers were mention that they could here the "humming" sound in the background. Not sure if that still is an issue but even with that, it was so rare that we never considered switching back. For a business, it's a great investment.
