Vonage for Business?

With VOIP sevices it all comes down to how fast is your UPLOAD. Most providers have fast download speeds but are lacking on the upload end. I have TWC cable service and I had to upgrade it to make vonage work properly.
My problem was that if I was talking on the telephone at the same time as I was uploading an attachment to my email, the guy on the other end was unable to hear me.
I think that you need a minimum of 1 meg upload speed or you will most likely have the same problem.
Just my opinion, I do not profess to be a computer whiz.

My calls have never dropped, I do have a high speed cable hookup at my office. The modem has only frozen up on me one or two times since I've had it.... seemed like it was getting really warm so I propped it up so it could get circulation and haven't had the problem again.

I am going to try out skype for my business lines. It is similar to vonage which uses VOIP, but is much cheaper.

That'll be a terrible mistake, skype isn't the same TCP/IP protocol that traditional VOIP runs on; it runs on SIP and the bandwidth is lacking. You will have numerous people complaining about quality and it will cost you money eventually.

It might be different, but I haven't had any problems with the quality unless I was bumming off someone's slower internet connection. Vonage isn't a bad deal, but skype is cheaper. I've used both and I like skype better, but that's because I can access it from anywhere and usually am in front of my computer when I'm on the phone anyway so it's not a big deal. The voice quality on both is fine as long as you've got a solid internet connection.
