What is Going on with UHL Underwriting?

Couple moved to Crestview from South FL. Wife was turning age 65 so a client told her to call me. Wrote her a MS and found that her husband's MAPD did not offer service here. Wrote him too.
Asked about life insurance and neither had any. Decided to try the UHL Provider since it was the lowest cost and both were healthy. She took 1 pill for HBP and still worked 3 days a week as a medical assistant. He had no issues and no Rx at age 69. They were offered SNT instead of PNT because of medical history. What history? Company hasn't had time to APS. This is the 3rd app I have submitted and not issued as applied for. 3 strikes you are out UHL.

Obviously something off their RX or MIB.

Why are you using provider anyway? Unless it is a big policy, little premium difference between it and Express Issue Premier.

Age 69MNT $25000 Provider $150.10 Premier $169.58. Big difference.

Yeah and how did that work out for you? I like UHL but I don't see any reason to write the provider product. Rates are very close to the premier and comp is a few points higher but not so much so that I want to risk getting a file rated. I use their FE products regularly and have very good luck with them.

Pretty much my thoughts right there. There is only a difference in rate if they can actually get it.

I've never understood why UHL has "Know before you go" on every app by the interview number. But they don't make a decision after the interview. So you never know before you go unless you hang around a few more days.

Other than that quirk I like them.

I talked with the applicants today and they decided to accept the offer only because I couldn't get them anything less expensive. The husband had a birthday last month. The wife was not happy. They want to know what UHL considers a preferred risk and after the policies are delivered I am sure the wife will make a few calls to UHL. They were some of the healthiest people I have written in weeks so I am puzzled too.

They say that you can know if can be submitted to underwriting before you go.. not if it will be issued.. :1rolleyes:
