What is Your Current Opinion of Health Reform?

Beware the VAT.

After the gun sale in the parking lot story, it really makes you wonder what will happen at swap meets, doesn't it? The more the government taxes, the more creative people will become in their attempts not to pay. Barter, anyone?

And it's kinda hard to impose a tax penalty for the 50% of all households that don't pay taxes. Also a nice clause in the bill taking all the teeth out of the IRS for enforcement; cannot lien or levy - cannot garnish wages.

But they can garnish tax returns!
This might be a sliver lining.
Most all low income workers are getting tax returns. If they have kids, the earned income credit can even give a family with enough kids a gain for the year.
With the tax penalty, when that family of 5 gets money back they will have a $1000 - $2000 deduction from their return at the end of the year.

I know that $1K-$2K is peanuts compared to what they should be paying in, but at least its something....

I agree with Somarco; VAT is a coming!!!:1err:

Yep. And the VAT is a trickle down tax on the consumer.
Just watch all of the US industry move overseas.... bye bye jobs!!

Healthagents might make more money even if comissions go down, but I can't see that happening long term. A lot of what people sell is replacing plans they already have. If everyone's on the "government plan" what are they going to switch to?

DC has yet to figure out that US industry does not need US workers to make their widgets. Almost all manufacturing can be done cheaper in other countries.

Card check, greenhouse gas taxes, corporate over-regulation and taxation, Obamacare, VAT . . . all are job killers.

Today Barry is in Cape Canaveral to deliver the news that the space program will be essentially scrapped.

The good news is, it will lessen the need for additional tax dollars to support NASA and will . . . eventually . . . create jobs.

The bad news is, many will lose their jobs in the next 12 - 18 months. Cape Canaveral and surrounding areas get roughly 20% of their revenue from NASA. When the NASA jobs go and former employees leave to find employment elsewhere it will depress the economy even more in that area.

I can't think of any one thing Obaba has done since taking office that has made life better.

Welcome to the Socialist States of Amerika.

Unrelated, but Obama just cost me another $120 directly from my checking account. The legislation passed that makes it harder for banks to collect over draft fees means the bank revenue is down. As a result, even though I do not over draft my account, I get charged $10/month to "subsidize" those that do. I was told all the major banks are switching to this model within 1 to 2 months. Change you can believe in!

I got this from my guy at Humana today. Pretty good and fairly concise outline of 'things to come.'
