What Makes You Successful?

jdeasy - I'm curious why you say the FE market is the way to go...we do business insurance, there is plenty of money in that. Have you tried business or always only done personal?

It's definitely not for everybody. This business is geared towards selling products to less fortunate seniors. I wonder if a lot of people really stop and think about that before they get into this. You really have to ask yourself if you are comfortable dealing with these people.

I would venture to guess that many people that get started have never been in a trailer park before. I know for a fact that a lot of people just aren't comfortable dealing with poverty. It may not be that they are a snob, but are just not comfortable in those situations. If you're not, then I think that is going to come out in your presentation.

I would recommend that anybody thinking about getting into the biz read the thread "Final Expense Funny Happenings". The stories are funny, but they can paint a picture of what you'll be doing and who you'll being dealing with.

Through my past business ventures I have made a lot of friends that were less fortunate than myself. Many of them are the ideal FE candidate, or at least will be in 20-30 years. Having spent time in their homes, gone to their weddings, etc has prepared me for this line of work.

It's funny because I have a friend that is a traditional life insurance agent here in Phoenix. The way both of us try to become successful are completely different. He is always out networking for clients (lunch, golf, civic groups, etc). I wait for a stack of leads to come in and then go hit the trailer parks. Two totally different professions, they just share the same license.

I have definitely done my research on this side of the industry and made my decision due to the fact that I was brought up not as fortunate as others, but my family gave me every opportunity to make myself a better person. In turn, I want to be able to get out there and help people that may not be as fortunate and still need some help when it comes to FE. I know it sounds cliche, but at the end of the day I want to make sure that I can sleep at night knowing that I have helped someone out a great deal.
Thanks for the input Ben.

Each type of insurance can be quite rewarding if you know what you're talking about, work hard, and build good relationships with your clients.

I work with multiple types of insurance (life, disability, med supps, ltc, etc.) and have found each type of insurance can be quite lucrative. Cross-selling is also great when able to.

This market will definitely keep you humble! I have more peace now driving around in my Kia knowing I'm truly making a difference than when I drove my BMW and thought I was a whole lot more important than I really was just because I could broker a mortgage loan.

Anybody has any comments about AIL, American Income Life Insurance company for selling Final Expenses?

I'm an FE agent... where is your manager Travis Tubbs?

Is that like a where in the world is Matt Lauer question?:D

I believe at the moment that Travis is in Fl. He can normally be found in Indiana, but he can pop up all over the world since he is "worldwide"!
