What Makes You Successful?

Do you know him personally? I've never heard of the guy.... how many agents does he manage?

Travis is one of the regional managers for EFES. Yes, I know him quite well. He is the best manager in the EFES system. I don't have any idea as to how many agents are under him.

The main reason is because I've never asked. Why would that be something to be concerned about? My concern is how a manager interacts with me whether he's got 10 agents or 500.

As the MA rules became more and more cumbersome and the business less rewarding I moved more and more to FE. I moved my focus to 100% FE in Feb. 2009. Best move I've made in this business.
Best reason in the world to look for a new market. When I first sold Med Sup, the client had sign their name one time.. two if it was bank draft which was rare as most paid annually.. Now, it seems there is a ream of paper used for each app.. and annuities are getting about as bad.

Med Sup commissions certainly are a long way from what they were in that day...My first contract paid 60% first year with a 15% lifetime renewal.

Have always sold FE but have never concentrated on it till just lately. As JD says the market isn't simple but the product and the sales process are.. No medical exams, no financial questionnaires, no 10 page apps; no proposals showing all the what if projections..And, since it is an old fashioned WL product, no crashes due to projections not being met or clients underfunding the policy. And, unlike the medical market, you only have one claim per policy.

In short, when you are an old guy like I am; don't want to hang up the rate book but want to simplify your life and your business, FE makes sense.. Not to mention the fact that, whether I want to admit it or not, the Senior market has become my "natural" market.:twitchy:

One of my best friends used to own a Greek restaurant in Chatanooga named Gulas something or other. He sells funeral insurance now and a little bit of FE in the area.

Would assume that is the son of Mike Gulas, who started the Gulas Chili King and Gulas Restaurants. I deal in old glass and pottery and came across some Chili King butter pats. Sold them on eBay and one of the Gulas daughters bought them..
