What's a New Guy to Do?

See, cds, what you are doing is way different than what the mortgage protection people have done in the past, and may be still doing. What they have been known to do is go in there and burn through massive amounts of leads, sell them the mortgage need only, if they don't qualify, screw it, move on. Much like what you described that other agent doing with Banner. See, this is what NAA was known for in the past, hope they still do not operate this way. This is what we are hoping the original poster is reading and absorbing.

I've been absorbing for months. Take the test next Friday (finally) and as soon as I pass I'll be calling up Frank, buying his software, and doing everything he says.

As a newbie there are just too many questions. It's enough to make your head hurt. Captive? Indie? SO many scenarios, SO many products.

I have to keep it simple and I had to make a choice. I'm going with Frank and med supps. I'll give it 110% and hopefully it is the right first steps into this career field. If down the road I find myself focusing on FE or Annuities or whatever than so be it, but right out of the gate I'm going to try to keep it as simple as possible and be happy to have a guide.

Good for you!! Yeah, I noticed you've been on here a while. Frank is a good guy and can teach you a lot. But it's like anything else, you gotta do it, too. You gotta put in the effort. I trust that you can.

Thanks I will for sure. I just spent a lot time absorbing this forum. I mean there is a wealth of knowledge here and between so many seasoned guys giving really good advice and others giving bad advice you just have to read, read, and keep reading.

I've also gone to quite a few "recruitment" interviews and heard the various pitches. It all sounds like BS. 10k in one month, a million dollars in less than 2 years, management opportunities, blah blah blah. I hear that crap and after being a member here on this forum it is easy to spot the BS. I mean even if you are a newbie to this forum ask yourself this question: What is more realistic, some super duper amazing company that hires EVERYONE and brags about the 6 figures you will make or the concept of hard work and slowly building your business and increased income comes as a result of hard work and networking as the years go by?

Frank is a straight up guy. He will tell you in med supps if you work your ass off you can hope for 35k/yr that first year. Maybe a little more, maybe a little less. But your residuals will build, your book of business will build, and once you "master" med supps you can add another product and ever increase your income. All this while being ethical and honest.

There are many different ways to get into this business. After reading for months I know many on here will share their own stories and advice what they think is the best way. Truth is there is no 100% best way or correct path. But after awhile you just have to choose one and give it your all. Unless you go with a really shady company or have a sleazy manager/mentor you will learn something. Just have an open mind, be positive, be prepared to work hard, and be realistic.

My sentiments exactly.

Passed the life this morning!!! FE here I come. Now for the hard work, not that the stress of the test was an easy task.

Thanks again to everyone for the help and guidance. This forum really made it easier to get a hold of the basic concepts.
