I think I read on here somewhere that the average good agent should maintain about an 80% persistency....that seem about right?

Whats your persistency like?
Thanks!

On my Medicare business 100%

On my Life business 91% - taken in to account some term don't renew because they don't see the value, and economics pressure them into getting a new tattoo and cell phone.

When I wrote health (up until '07) 50% - as soon as they got a cheaper rate, they skipped

Long Term Care 100%

Disability 40% - not my strongest area

Dental/Vision 95% - until the doc leaves the plan

It really varies depending on them market a person works.. The National Quality Award requires 90% 13 month basis. Most companies require around 75% to maintain advance. Mine always ran around 93% -95% when I worked family and small business markets. It is currently around 97% in FE.. Cancer and Critical Care are running about 91%. Where I have stumped my toe lately is my 24 month pesistency.. It is only running about 83% overall. (67% with one company).. Don't know exactly where I lost control of it.. Perhaps I am not doing as much follow up as I did in the past..

Got you beat on disability Bob.. 100%.. Wrote one policy last year and it is still in force.. Of course, my 24 month perstiency could easily end up 0% :D

How in the world do you keep track of all that? Assuming you write many different companies.

On term, as long as it is over a year old and not being replaced there is some opportunity loss but not much dollar loss.

I am a very anal person, even though I'm an extrovert. Since I work 100% referral market, people's names, info, etc., stay in my head. Also, I spreadsheet this stuff.

Thanks for asking.

and, yes, it does take up alot of time. Usually do it when I'm listening to Car Talk, or Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, or when I'm watching The Georgia Gang.

Do you have many Medicare clients? I have a very high persistency with supps but not 100%.
