When Customers Get Nasty or Demand Attention?

Devil's advocate, I presume that over 30 years you've primarily done face to face without a focus on phone/email. By it's very nature customers have a much easier time being rude by phone/email to an anonymous person vs someone they've sat across the table from.

True, but I telemarket for appointments. I've had people hang up on me, but nothing like this warm, compassionate female describes.

Are you saying there's any excuse for the way Lizzy Borden acts?

Not at all. If a customer is being so rude to you that you no longer wish to have them as a customer there are plenty of professional ways of handling that. "Mrs. Jones, I appreciate your concerns. I'm happy to help you as best I can. If you're not confident I'm providing you with the type of service you're looking for than I can fully appreciate if you wish to take your business elsewhere" or something like that.

Regardless of what business you're in, part of customer service is listening to people's problems.

Exactly. We can choose who we do business with. If Miss Compassionate got rid of the clients she has a problem with, she probably wouldn't have many left.

Also, we're paid renewals to answer our clients concerns. No matter how trivial they might seem.

question deleted due to mentally ill stalkers here..this forum is scary and crazy...agents beware of many disturbed lunatics here with no lives
sick people

esp beware of howdydoody--a projecting mentally ill narcissist who goes around harassing bullying people online then calling 'them' angry...twisted sub human

And yet you keep coming back asking for advice from the same "disturbed lunatics" who keep telling you the same things.

You just don't want to admit it to yourself.

We all see that... but you don't.

You keep seeking the answers you want to hear, versus the truth.

"Doing the same thing over and over again" is the definition of insanity... and I'm willing to bet that you have just a little bit more than a normal dose of bipolar disorder yourself.

What we keep telling you is to look in the mirror. That is the source of your problems and the source of your attitude towards your problems.

The sooner you change your attitudes and philosophies, the better off you and your clients will be.

You should rename your thread to "When posters get nasty and demand attention".

rousemark;...what a lame response.."time to make commission off them"..this isnt about "time"..its about customers wasting time calling and ranting to people they have no place calling or ranting to. just because i sold them a policy doesnt mean I or any agent are there for their every calling and frustration....its not my place to listen to their woes about medicaid not by any means nor would i waste a second of it--that's what friends are for, and family not "AGENTS"... ifyou think that, you need serious help..besides trying to insult or be a jerk... what a sad group of pathetic online jerks...trolls everywhere

gee.. A first! Never been called a Troll before!:D I love your kind compassionate remarks to and about everybody that has posted on the thread. I have been an agent for 44 years and I have taken time to listen to people rant and rave about almost everything under the sun. Why? Because I care about the people who choose to do business with me and provide the means for me and my family to eat pretty doggone good.

One of these days, you might mature enough to know what kindness and compassion is. As far as friends and family, a lot of the people you deal with have no friends or family other than the agent they bought their insurance from. Probably be best for you and for them if you would find another line of work.
