"Beneficiary" to describe people on medicare.
I mean did somebody die and leave this to them or what?
Just curious.

You're very linear thinking, aren't you?

One need not die for someone else to be a beneficiary of a program/policy/contract.

What about cancer insurance? Disability insurance? Health insurance? All have beneficiaries without anyone dying. I've been a beneficiary of my health insurance policy several times over the past few years... still kicking.

You are thinking to narrowly. Beneficiary is the person who benefits from something. That could be a contract, program, whatever. Obviously people on Medicare are benefiting from it, therefore they are beneficiaries.

I believe my wife would agree that she is the beneficiary of my "gift."

Rick

I am sure she would agree she is the beneficiary but the question is would she consider it a "gift"?

Rick, I couldn't help myself you just left a great opening :)
