Where The Hell Is JD?

"This cemetery owned by the big funeral chain had all bronze memorial requirements when I was there. People would spend big bucks for Fido and then direct cremation for their mom."

I'm not a pet person but I knew someone who was a total wreck over the loss of Fido..I mean snot blubbering crying for days. Totally shut down missing work and all. I had no clue how to handle that situation but to keep my mouth shut.

I'm a dog guy and I can tell you it's tough to lose a dog. I don't know about "snot blubbering crying for days" tough, but it is definitely a loss. The last dog I had to put down, I cried during the process and I was sad for a couple of days. Then the issues of the routine changes and reminds you of the loss. No more getting up to let them out, to feed them, etc. You'd think that would be a relief, but it just reminds you that your little friend is no longer around. Today I have two dogs so I'll be feeling that grief all over again at some point in the future. We do it to ourselves, but I'm one of those who believe it's worth it.

As I mentioned earlier, dogs personify unconditional love so to lose that in your life causes some pain. As for handling the situation of a person who lost a pet, just express your condolences and move on.
