Just like the title says. I am starting my search and I just would like to know the bad seeds in the insurance biz. Please feel free to explain why they are bad, or not, I just need input, lots of input.

Thanks

Jerry

Well, I was introduced to insurance by Farmers and was very excited about insurance as a career. Unfortunately, as I looked into farmers I saw that they were typically 70% more expensive than the next guy. I was in import & distribution and my only experience with insurance was as a customer so I decided to get my license first and then start looking for a job, the license being the extra incentive for someone to take a chance on me as I believe I need a mentor to learn not only how to work in this business but also, hopefully how to run an insurance business. I know it is possible to sell regardless of my experience but I want to make sure I do right by my customers.

Am I looking at this in the wrong light? Why did you ask that question? Please elaborate and I promise I will not get my panties in a bunch.

Thanks

Jerry

p.s. I bad in all those ways, I want to be with good companies and I definately have the goal of becoming a broker, I think :)

Avoid Liberty Mutual unless you have a two year plan to learn the basics. They will get you when you least expect it.

Just curious Mark, even though I like most of your post's I see you have never been appointed with Conseco but you always point them out as you have in this thread and others and was wandering how you have come to that conclusion?

last i heard conseco was not doing well financially ... also, just look up bankers and you will see nothing but negative feedback ... i was with them one day and I ran as fast as i could .. ha! it sucked ... they have a phone room and you just cold call and they count your calls and they yell at you if you suck and ... well ... it's stressful and their products are expensive and the company is failing and ... well .. why sell them? there are plenty of other companies doing well who don't eat your heart for lunch ... ha!

Sure, but I can type in any insurance company name with complaint in the search and find a lot of negative info with the exception of just a few companies. I hate Bank of America and I bank with them but some swear by them. I am contracted with ING and at one time with AIG when it was American General. I could hardly ever get a policy issued for those super low rates they tease with. So many others are competitive regardless. I could say quote me a 1mil policy on a 40 year old male and get all these guys and gals on here saying stuff like 19.95 month but it's only a quote. Quoting a rate is one thing but the only thing that counts is the rate that is issued. It would be nice to see a comparison chart on issued rates between companies! Sorry for your experience in the call center Jody, that's why I went independent. Less Stress. Most captive environments are tough and stressful!
